About the "social media isn't real" trend...
For those who are facing battles that aren't for public consumption.
There’s a trend going around right now about how social media isn’t real. Influencers are sharing slideshows of their insecurities, shortcomings, or hardships that they don’t normally talk about. It’s a refreshing celebration of honesty amid platforms like Instagram that often contain nothing more than curated highlight reels. I like the trend, I really do. I’m here for it. But here’s something I’ve been pondering:
This week I talked with my pastor about something personal. She said to me, “There must be a loneliness that comes with that because you can’t really talk about it with many people.”
In that moment, I felt seen. And I want to pass that moment on to you.
Some of you are facing battles that are simply not for public consumption.
You aren’t trying to be fake. You aren’t trying to present a highlight reel. You are keeping your circle small because it’s what the battle requires. You’re sharing only with those who will be a part of the solution because you need warriors, not worriers. You’re protecting and respecting your kids, family, health, or an important relationship.
It’s a lonelier path, but in your situation, it’s the way of integrity.
In Genesis, there is a story about a mistreated slave named Hagai. In a moment of desperation in the desert, God meets her and pronounces a blessing upon her and her descendants.
Hagai responds, “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”
The world might not see the weight you carry or the battle you face. Your challenges might be too private or too painful to put on an Instagram slideshow.
But God sees.
God sees the weight you carry, the tears you shed. He sees the private prayers and the way you keep showing up. He sees every act of love, no matter the size, and He sees every moment you choose integrity over impulse, and prudence amid pain.
If you’re fighting an invisible battle, know this: God sees.

Questions to Consider 🧭
For reflection: If you’re fighting an invisible battle, who are the people who can help you? Who are the people who will give sound advice, pray for you, or be a part of the solution?

As I was reading this I thought “I feel so seen.” And then you went on to talk about being seen. Thank you for this post.
