Mindset Monday: Rerouting is Allowed
What to do when you're paralyzed with indecision or second-guessing your choices.
This month, I had to make several hard parenting decisions. The weightiness left me questioning, second-guessing, and paralyzed with fear of making the wrong choice. In the midst of it all, I remembered something my mentor, Julie, always says:
“Nothing is permanent except for Jesus.”
Julie often says it with a lighthearted smile. She has a way of bringing fresh air into a room when you’ve been holding your breath for a while.
Her funny little saying is a reminder that often our decisions feel permanent and weighty, but the truth is, rerouting is allowed.
Here’s what I’ve been reminding myself in the thick of it:
If I make a wrong decision, I can always make a different decision.
If I make a wrong turn, I can make another turn.
If I hit a dead end, I can always turn around.
That’s the beauty of the Waymaker, He can always make a way.
One of the choices I made this month on behalf of my child didn’t end up being the best fit. And guess what? We rerouted. We made a different decision. We took a u-turn and learned some lessons for next time.
So, if you’re struggling with indecision or fearful that you’ve taken a wrong turn, remember, rerouting is allowed.

“It’s not the hard roads that slay us; what actually slays us is the expectation that this road isn’t what we hoped it to be.”—Ann Voskamp

What decision are you wrestling with right now?
Aahhh, thank you friend for the rec! Love our connection with our Waymaker 🙌🏻
Parenting is a tough gig. When those tough decisions are needed it is hard but it is also a demonstration of care. We have to redirect and try new things and it can be hard. I take nature walks and pray my way through tough choices and I also journal. Thank you for sharing the journal link. I feel like I can never have too many journals. 😊
